05:22 pm - Computer Help Okay, Problems already. My laptop is screwing up because it has decided that only at certain angles sometimes will my laptop acknowledge that the AC power hookup is actually plugged in. As I am typing this, my screen is going from bright to unplugged bright because every second or so it decides to switch from plugged in status to not. As a result, I have consistent low battery and it has me scared that I might actually get to a point where it does not recognize a power supply at all. My warranty has been up for a long time (I got this computer... a long time ago. Almost 3 years ago?) Me thinks it is time to buy a new laptop, but I don't know. Computer people, I need help. Does this sound like something that is easily fixable in terms of the hardware? Should I just go buy a new laptop? Thanks in advance :).

It sounds to me like for some reason the connection between the power cable and your laptop has gotten loose. If it's that, it's definitely fixable, but you probably couldn't do it yourself. I'd take it to a computer store and ask them to give you an estimate on how much it'd cost to fix it. Almost certainly even with the insane prices they charge it'd be cheaper than an actual laptop; you gotta ask yourself though, if you've had your laptop for so long, wouldn't you rather just get a new one? :) |
