It sounds to me like for some reason the connection between the power cable and your laptop has gotten loose. If it's that, it's definitely fixable, but you probably couldn't do it yourself. I'd take it to a computer store and ask them to give you an estimate on how much it'd cost to fix it. Almost certainly even with the insane prices they charge it'd be cheaper than an actual laptop; you gotta ask yourself though, if you've had your laptop for so long, wouldn't you rather just get a new one? :)
