09:00 pm - The Aristocrats Saw it tonight, and it was hilarious. A bit slow at points, but it was only for a moment and then something else made the slowness go away.
But let me say, this movie is not for the faint of heart. When I bought my ticket the girl at the ticket window had to warn me that they only give refunds if you walk out within 30 minutes of seeing the movie; anything longer they would not give a refund. Evidently they have been giving alot of refunds out, and in fact, two people walked out within 30 minutes in a theatre with, at max, 30 people in it.
A little breakdown of the movie: It is all based off this one joke, a man goes into a talent agency and describes an act to an agent. Now fill in the most disgusting, revolting thing the guy can do with his family (i.e. incest, beastiality on the dog, feces, urine, vomit). The agent is so disgusted, that he/she is curious what they CALL this obscene act. The guy answers "The Aristocrats."
My favorites were the ones by South Park, the Mime, and Gilbert Gottfreids version during the Roast of Hugh Hefner.
Other than that, the movie was actually quite a nice insight into the culture of comedians. This isn't a joke that any comedian would actually tell to an audience, so they all sharpen their skills with other comedians by telling this joke to each other. Very Geertzian in terms of using one incident (at least I think it was Geertz) to expound on the culture of comedians. I had more examples of the anthropology of this movie while I was driving home, but I forget a lot of them now.
Anyhoo... if you are offended easily don't go see it. But I thought it was great.
